Tricues Profile
fcsnooker,
in association with Tricues are pleased to introduce a new
concept to the world of cue-sports - the triangular
shaft.
Established
in 1995 in Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, Tricues are the creation
of snooker craftsman Campbell V Brown. After years of personal frustration
with his bridging hand and when using the rest, he decided that
an alternative to traditional cue design would help him improve
his overall play. "I have always taken the game seriously and
this included attempting to develop all aspects of my technique.
I struggled however to develop a strong 'V' on the bridging hand
and like so many others was terrible with the rest."
He
felt that a triangular shaped shaft would provide greater solidity
for the thumb and forefinger of the bridge hand and also when placed
in the rest head. He
immediately began to experiment with old cues collected over the
years and with some newer cues purchased from suppliers. After six
months of fine tuning and experimentation Campbell purchased ten
brand new cues and developed them into Tricues. He placed the tricues
in the local snooker club for market research purposes and to his
amazement the cues were stolen in a matter of days!
"I
new then that I was on a winner. The cues were stolen so quickly
it was clear that they had been targeted." Campbell immediately
set the wheels in motion to patent his idea of the Triangular Snooker
Cue, (patent number GB232808B). With this in place he began to actively
promote his cues via traditional methods and over the internet and
was amazed by the world-wide interest. "I immediately received
enquiries from Central Europe, America and Asia in addition to from
within the United Kingdom."
Suddenly
cues were being despatched around the globe to enthusiasts in Russia,
Malaysia, India, Finland, Japan and Australia. "The feedback
was amazing, players were so pleased at how well the cues worked
for them. Some customers even admitted to being sceptical at the
outset but were now totally convinced."
Soon
the professional players began to take an interest. A number of
nine ball players on the current UK Tour purchased 'demo' cues to
see if there were real and ascertainable benefits in using the Tricue.
Andy Mistry, Art "The Cat" Bull, Richard Jones, Steve
Evans and Mark Robins all then began playing with Tricues after
experiencing the benefits. Fabio Petroni the Italian professional
also began to play with a triangular shaped shaft. "Once the
professional pool players began to play with my cues, I new without
doubt that thet could assist many players to improve their game
and playing enjoyment."
Tricues
are now firmly established as a viable alternative to traditional
cue manufacture. The triangular shaped shaft, complete with rounded
edges provides the perfect shape for comfort on the 'V' of the bridge,
both of the hand and the rest. "It is been interesting listening
to the comments and responses from my customers. Players of all
ability have tried the Tricue, both at snooker and pool and the
response is consistently the same."
The
icing on the cake for Campbell came when his cues were chosen for
the World Record Breaking attempt at non-stop pool, held on August
the 18th 2001, at The Tap and Spile Public House in Reigate, Surrey.
Formerly held by a team from Finland, at 100 hours and six minutes,
the record was broken after the lads at the Tap played pool for
an astonishing 168 hours (7 days) non-stop. Look out for Tricues
starring performance in the Guiness Book of Records for 2002/2003.
"The
cue assists with playing off the cushion, as it can be held flat
on the table rail due to its shape".............Jonathon
