Building Breaks

Place the majority of reds in the triangle. Gently displace three or four from the cluster around the pink and black spots.

Place the white ball close to the baulk colours, allowing yourself a nice angle on either yellow or green to get back down the table towards the reds.

Play the colour first and obtain position on the red. Proceed to build as big a break as possible from the position obtained.

The logic behind this exercise is that after potting an initial red you will often find yourself with position on a low value colour, with a requirement to get back up the table towards the cluster of balls.

Obtaining decent position is the key to the break continuing around the pink and the black, something which is not always easy to achieve if only two or three balls have been dislodged from the triangle.
