NO THIRD WORLD TITLE
FOR HIGGINS
Higgins
comeback delayed
FORMER
world champion Alex Higgins has again put his
comeback plans on hold.
NO SHOW ... Higgins
Higgins, world champion in 1972 and again ten
years later, had entered the qualifiers for the
2003 Embassy World Championship and was due to
play his first match at the Manhattan Snooker
Club in Harrogate on Saturday against either Irelands
Bill Kelly or Manchester pro Frank Fitzgerald.
But
the 53-year-old from Belfast confirmed today he
will not compete due to continued dental treatment,
the same reason given for his withdrawal from
last months Benson and Hedges Championship.
