There will be a total of 128 players on the World Snooker Main Tour.
These will be determined as follows:
Top 80 players from the official 2001 / 2002World ranking list
80
Next 16 highest ranked players from the 2001 / 2002 one years point list
16
Top 16 Challenge Tour Order of Merit 2001
16
Overseas / School of Excellence (2 Euro Tour, 2 Asian Tour, 1 Oceania Tour, 1 Americas Tour

Concessions (selected by the board)

Seeding Structure

Each tournament will be seeded in the following order:

1
defending champion
2
world champion
3-80
in order of official 2001 / 2002 one years point list
81-96
in order of 2001 / 2002 one year points list
97-112
in order of the Challenge Tour Order of Merit 2001
113-138
remaining players at random
